Delivery Apps in Venezuela

The IESA carried out, in May 2021, a study on the food delivery services market based on the digital platform business model in Venezuela.

  • Only four digital platforms in the delivery service market would exist or stand out in Venezuela: Yummy of local origin, PedidosYa of Uruguayan origin, Ubbi Go and Liveri, both of local origin.

  • It can occur in markets such as Venezuela, with a low purchasing power of the currency, that those who enter early turn out to be local investors or entrepreneurs. The advantage of knowing the terrain allows them to reduce certain risks.

  • The study reveals that 89% of sales are concentrated in just two applications, Yummy and PedidosYa, with 55% and 34% respectively.

  • Once the application is downloaded or loaded on the cell phones of certain people, the cost of downloading it and eventually understanding it could be covered by those who already admit to having it on their phones and having used it.

  • In relation to the variety of affiliated businesses, Yummy has the highest number of affiliated businesses, specifically 54.8% compared to PedidosYa with 33.6% and another 11.8%.

  • The IESA reveals that with regard to the commissions charged by the platform on the sales made through its application, the commissions differ between the different platforms that operate in Venezuela.
